Our Story

Christy (newly returned to cold Utah after living several years beachside in CA) and Jeffery (insanely busy directing Infinity Soccer Club in Logan) were both considering not going with their friends to Sundance Film Festival. However the stars were aligned that evening and they very randomly met on a snowy night in Park City Utah.

Christy’s viewpoint: After getting pizza and star gazing on Main Street and slipping a few times on the ice (I still don’t have winter boots, btw) we were finally ready to go back to Salt Lake after a fun-filled night. My girl friends wanted to stop on the way out of town and see some of their guy friends who were renting a cabin for the week. It was pretty late and I was really cold but we agreed to stop for a bit. I didn’t know anyone, but kept myself busy talking to some of the guys. About 30mins later, Jeff and his buddy Skip came bounding in the door disrupting the boring dynamic. Jeff looked really cute bundled up in a beanie and he was excited about the night they had on Main Street. First he politely introduced himself to everyone in the room and then for some reason came right back around to talk to me. At first I was more interested in leaving that talking to anyone, so I said a few things that were probably shockingly blunt which got a couple good laughs out of Jeff. The more I talked with him the more attractive he became and the more interested I became. When I found out he was from Logan I figured nothing serious would come from a long-distance dating scenario but was interested in meeting new people and going to some RSL games-so I gave him my number. We haven’t missed a RSL game since, somehow he still gets more attractive to me each day and hopefully I will always say blunt things that make him laugh.

Jeff’s viewpoint: I had driven down to Salt Lake after running some soccer training sessions in Logan. I was trying to catch up to all of my guy friends before they went out and about in downtown Park City during the Sundance Film Festival. On my way down to Salt Lake I had a hard time getting a hold of my friends or if I did, I was getting confusing responses. (If you know my guy friends, they simply don't plan and  end up randomly doing things as the night unfolds.) I finally got information about the cabin we had all chipped in to rent for the weekend. And to be honest I was about to head to my brother Bobby's home in Lehi because I was so frustrated with the poor communication of my friends. I finally bucked up and headed to Park City where I caught up with about 6 of my guy friends. We went from place to place, freezing in lines to get in to different establishments. Around 1 or 2am we went back to the cabin. To our surprise there were a few girls hanging out. We all introduced ourselves, made small talk and when it all sort of settled down, Christy and I found ourselves laughing (mostly at me) and chatting up a storm. I was pretty impressed with how sweet she was, I loved the blue/green pea coat she was wearing.... it made those beautiful eyes stand out and the red hair shine! Chirsty and her girls friend left shortly after (Christy was not excited to be there in the first place). I sent her some texts to keep her company and hopefully make her laugh while she drove back to Sandy. I suppose I left a strong enough impression that a few weeks later I received a text or a facebook message (yeah she was checking me out online). After trying to meet up a few times we finally went on our first date. It just happened to be the best birthday present ever! When I showed up to pick her up she had a present (cookies, wrapped up like a gift) for me. I took her to Silver Fork Lodge up near Brighton Ski resort and then offered to take her to a movie. It was late so she invited me to come hang at her house. While at her house we started talking about going to a Real Salt Lake game. The next game was against the L.A. Galaxy, she threatened to wear a Landon Donovan Jersey so naturally I bought two tickets to the game and a Kyle Beckerman jersey for her to wear... this started the conversion process of being a Real Salt Lake fan and more importantly a Ginn fan. We have some amazing memories, mostly because I was persistent about having "marathon dates" when I was down for the weekends. The girl is amazing, has been from the very start!
